Quinacridone Red is a deep, warm red with maroon undertones.
The quinacridone story begins in 1935 when quinacridone compounds were first synthesized, but their potential as pigments wasn't immediately recognized. The breakthrough came in the 1950s when DuPont and BASF independently developed methods to produce quinacridone pigments commercially. DuPont introduced its quinacridone pigments under the trade name "Monastral" (though this name is more commonly associated with phthalocyanines).
