Calling all the art lovers and BTS lovers, especially Jimin's fans, here.
Since the K-Pop culture has swept across the world recently, almost all the youngsters have been fanatic for this trend. We know some of our art lovers are too. I can’t deny that the K-pop really gets a hook of some people. Their music and dance move have gotten into our head and not to say their perfectly good-looking faces.
Some of you might have tried to draw your super idol’s portrait but failed? How about take a few minutes and draw with us?
As we want to dive deep into details, we divide this into 2 blog posts. This one will be talked about how to outline the face first and the other half will be about the shading and blending to get the realisticity of your drawing.
Things you need:
- Sketching paper
- A light grade of graphite pencil (for outlining)
In order to do the face’s proportion properly, let’s do the measurement on the original photo first.
A. Drawing the eyes
We take the measurement between the eyes. In the front view, according to the golden ratio, the measure should be 1/3 of the eyes (orange lines). Due to the photo is in a side view, we can utilize some lines (blue lines) to indicate where the eyes (the eyeballs) line in.
We can now outline the eyes as the image below.
B. Drawing the nose and eyebrows
To get the proportion easily, we can use the 1/3 measurement (yellow line) to measure the distance of the nose. Besides, we can draw extra lines (green lines) which are perpendicular the line of eyes (orange line) to see where should we draw the sides of the nose.
We only need to draw both sides of the nose and the nostrils. To get the nose realistic, we will just shade this.
C. Drawing the lips
As the same method like above, we need to draw two lines (green lines) which are perpendicular to the line of eyes (orange lines) to indicate how wide of the lips.
Just like drawing the eyes, we don’t need to outline all the lips. We just need to outline the center of the top and the bottom of the lips as well as the line of the middle of the lips.
D. Lastly, drawing the rest of it
When we got all the face done, we can draw the shape of the face, ears, hair etc
