Limonite forms as a secondary mineral, often resulting from the weathering of iron-bearing minerals. It's commonly found in oxidized zones of iron-bearing ore deposits, in sedimentary rocks, and in soil.
Historically, it was an important iron ore, though less used today. It is widely used as a pigment in paints, known as "yellow ochre" or "brown ochre"
Made from the mineral - Limonite. No additional pigment was added.
