The color is an intense, deep blue characteristic of lapis lazuli. The color has a slightly cool undertone, reminiscent of the night sky or deep ocean waters. At its most concentrated, the blue appears almost royal or imperial in its richness.

History:
Lapis lazuli has been prized since antiquity, mined in Afghanistan for over 6,000 years.

It was Introduced to Europe through trade routes in the Middle Ages, highly valued for its intense blue color, often more expensive than gold.

It became prominent in oil painting during the Renaissance (14th-17th centuries).

 Famous Works:
   - Vermeer's "Girl with a Pearl Earring" features ultramarine in the subject's turban.
