Ivory Black PBk9 - Artist Grade Handmade Honey Based Watercolor Tube 15ml

HK$148.00

PBk9 CI#77267 (Bone Black)
Series 2

Ivory Black is a dark black pigment that has been used by artists for centuries. It is traditionally made from charred animal bones of Mammoth ivory from the permafrost layer.

Ivory Black (PBk9) is one of the oldest and most historically significant black pigments used in artistic applications. Despite its name suggesting origins from elephant tusks, modern Ivory Black is almost always actually Bone Black due to the scarcity and ethical concerns surrounding ivory.

PBk9 is composed of:

  • Charred animal bones (primarily calcium phosphate)
  • Contains approximately 10-20% carbon
  • The remaining material consists of calcium phosphate (78%), calcium carbonate (8%), and small quantities of other minerals
