Perylene Green is a very dark, blackish-green - so dark it appears almost black in mass tone but reveals a deep green in thin applications. It was developed in the mid-20th century and is among the most lightfast organic pigments available.
Unlike opaque blacks, Perylene Green's transparency allows underlying colors to show through, creating depth and luminosity. Its green undertone makes it particularly useful for darkening greens naturally, creating rich, complex shadows in landscapes, mixing neutral darks that aren't as stark as pure black.
